Fall Development Council Meeting Set for Sept. 16

WACO, Texas -- Baylor University President Robert B. Sloan Jr. will give a "state of the university" address during the fall meeting of the Baylor Development Council at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, in the Jones Theatre of the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center.
The Baylor Development Council is a group of several hundred alumni and friends of the university interested in the growth and development of Baylor. Members from throughout the United States meet once in the fall and spring to consider and advise all phases of Baylor's development work, according to Dr. C. Gwin Morris, vice president for university relations.
Presiding at the meeting will be Dallas businessman Leo Parchman.
Sloan will discuss various operations and goals for Baylor, and Thomas Stanton, director of athletic marketing and promotion, will discuss "The Next Step," a unique fund-raising plan for Baylor athletics.
Mrs. Gracie Hatfield Hilton, former regent and chair of the General Gifts and Walkway Project, will give an update on the Sesquicentennial Campaign, and "Update '95," a multimedia presentation, will be shown.
Other program highlights will include recognition of outstanding academic students by Dr. Donald D. Schmeltekopf, provost and vice president for academic affairs, and a presentation to Robert O. Feather, vice president emeritus for external affairs and special liaison to the chancellor, and his wife, Carolyn.
Following the meeting, Development Council members will have lunch and attend the Baylor-Mississippi State University football game at Floyd Casey Stadium. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
