Baylor to Host Annual Music and Worship Conference Sept. 11-12

September 7, 1995

The Baylor University School of Music's Institute for Church Music and Worship will host the fifth annual Music and Worship Conference Sept. 11-12 on the Baylor campus.
Music ministers and church leaders from across Texas and the country will attend the events to gain new knowledge and inspiration, said Dr. Hugh Sanders, professor, the Ben H. Williams Professor of Music and director of the Institute for Church Music and Worship at Baylor.
"Our purpose is to give practitioners an opportunity to come to the Baylor campus and to hear from other music ministers," he said. "We also want them to hear the Singing Men of Texas and Dr. Bruce Leafblad, who is a leading authority in the area of church worship."
The keynote speaker for the event, Leafblad is professor of church music and worship at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He has served as a pastor and minister of music at churches in Illinois, California and Minnesota.
The singing Men of Texas will give a concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, in the Mary Gibbs Jones Concert Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building. All other events of the conference will be held in the Meadows Recital Hall of the McCrary Music Building.
The music and worship conference is a joint effort of Baylor's Institute of Church Music and Worship and the Office of Denominational Ministries.
