Baylor University President Ken Starr will preside over his first Baylor commencement this weekend, as the university confers degrees upon nearly 500 graduates during summer commencement exercises at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, in the Ferrell Center on the Baylor campus.

The ceremony will honor 483 graduates of Baylor's College of Arts and Sciences, Hankamer School of Business, School of Education, School of Engineering and Computer Science, School of Music, School of Social Work and the Graduate School.

In addition to conferring degrees, Starr will present the traditional message to the graduates. R. Dary Stone, JD '77, chairman of the Baylor Board of Regents, will bring greetings on Saturday. Bearer of the Mace honors will go to Dr. W. Keith Hartberg, professor emeritus of biology at Baylor.

Baylor will provide live streaming of the summer ceremony, so families and friends of graduates who are unable to travel to Waco can watch their graduate receive his/her diploma. A link to the live stream will be available 10 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony at: https://www.baylor.edu/commencement/index.php?id=63725.

Baylor's winter commencement is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 18. Spring commencement exercises will be held May 13-14, 2011.
