Baylor Employee Receives College Visitor Honors

August 4, 1995

Linda Hardwick, administrative assistant of the Wiethorn Visitors Center, has been elected the Outstanding Member of the Year for National Collegiate Visitor Services Association (CIVSA), and she was elected as the CIVSA secretary for the 1995-96 academic year.
CIVSA held its annual conference at Baylor in June. Several universities from around the country traveled to Waco to discuss issues and observe Baylor's methods. The first conference held last year was sponsored by the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the third conference will be held next year at Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
Hardwick has worked for Baylor for almost 13 years at Wiethorn. Her job includes working as the directory assistant for the university, greeting visitors, assisting visitors, and answering questions about the university.
Hardwick said CIVSA is a new organization and the main goal of its members is "to help universities with visitor centers pool ideas." When the organization meets, members discuss ideas they have tried at their respective universities, she said.
"By being a member, I will have a stronger standing in helping the organization grow and help to involve other universities," Hardwick said.
