Magician Rodney Rash will perform at the Discovery Center during National KidsDay.

Children can participate in a number of special activities during National KidsDay celebrations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Baylor University's Ollie Mae Moen Discovery Center. The event is free and open to the public.
"National KidsDay is meant to encourage and remind adults to spend meaningful time with kids and to express love and appreciation for them, not just on this day, but all year long," said Jill Barrow, director of the Discovery Center.
A variety of KidsDay activities will be available in all areas of the Discovery Center, including magic shows at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and puppet shows at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
"We are particularly excited about the magic show," Barrow said. "Magician Rodney Rash comes to us from Rochester, Minn. Using the latest and most innovative presentations in magic, he is committed to programs that inform and educate as they entertain."
National supporters of National KidsDay include Boys & Girls Clubs of America, American Zoo and Aquarium Association, the Association for Library Service to Children, KidsPeace, Association of Children's Museums and National Association for Child Advocates, among others. First Lady Laura Bush is honorary chair for the event.
"This is a day to reinforce that children matter - that their ideas and dreams are important and worthwhile. I hope National KidsDay becomes one of the greatest days of the summer for American's children," she said.
The Ollie Mae Moen Discovery Center is located at 220 S. 4th St. For more information about the event, contact Barrow at 710-0922.
