Statement By Tom Stanton, Baylor Director Of Athletics

Baylor University Director of Athletics Tom Stanton released a statement at 8 p.m. Monday, June 30, in response to the latest news reports on the disappearance of Patrick Dennehy:

At the moment, all the University can do is confirm that the individual named in the latest news reports is a former member of the men's basketball team.
Our hearts and prayers are with Patrick's loved ones. We have been in contact with his family throughout this ordeal.
I want to stop some of the speculation about Patrick as a team player. There has been incorrect information that made negative suggestions about his temperament. We saw a young man who got along well with his teammates and was extremely anxious to compete this year. Patrick has been a model student-athlete since coming to Baylor. That's why these incredible events have stunned and upset us all.
We hope everyone understands, but at this moment, we have to refer all other questions to the authorities. We will continue to work diligently with investigators to assist in whatever way we can.
