Turkish Member Of Parliament To Lecture April 24

The Honorable Mehmet Tomanbay, a Member of Parliament in the Republic of Turkey, will lecture on "Turkish Politics and the War in Iraq" at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in room 116 at the Draper Academic Building on the Baylor University campus. The lecture is part of the Council for International Education's Global Issues lecture series.
In addition to the lecture, Tomanbay will speak to Dr. William Mitchell's ethnopolitical conflict class on today and will talk about Turkish economics at Dr. Steven Gardner's graduate business class on Thursday.
Tomanbay received his doctorate from Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey, and served as professor of economics there from 1997-2002, when he was elected to Parliament. Additionally, he has been a visiting scholar at the University of Michigan, where he worked on a Fulbright grant at the Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies.
