Baylor University's Center for Community Learning and Enrichment has applications available for University for Young People, a summer enrichment program of interdisciplinary courses and camps for elementary through high school students.
The deadline to apply is no later than 5 p.m. April 22. Students who have attended UYP in the past do not have to apply again. Course catalogs will be mailed in mid-April to newly accepted students and former participants.
Two UYP sessions will be held in June for students entering first through fourth grades this fall. The first program, the Creative Problem Solving Camp, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 9-13 at Hillcrest Professional Development School, 4201 Pine Ave. in Waco. A two-week program with a thematic curriculum for first- through fourth-graders will be held from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. June 16-27, also at Hillcrest PDS.
The fee to attend each program is $150, plus a $20 registration fee. The cost includes a University for Young People t-shirt.
UYP also will offer two sessions for intermediate and high school students on a variety of subjects, including music, drama, foreign languages, art, science, computers and technology and leadership skills. The two-week sessions, which will be held on the Baylor campus, are scheduled for June 2-13 and June 16-27.
Class registration fees begin at $75, plus a $20 registration fee, which includes a t-shirt. Some classes will have an additional cost because of materials.
Applications can be accessed on the center's web site at www.baylor.edu/SOE/CCLE/ or picked up in room 143 of the Draper Academic Building on the Baylor campus. For more information, call the Center for Community Learning and Enrichment at (254) 710-2171.
