Baylor University's Indian Subcontinent Student Association will present its eighth annual "Gateway to India" cultural program at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 5, in Waco Hall.
The program will highlight various aspects of the Indian Subcontinent region. ISSA members will perform folk, classical and contemporary dances. Poetry, monologues and music will be performed to display the diversity of the region.
"Students will get an impression of the rich diversity of the Indian Subcontinent," said ISSA president and Dallas senior Shagit Thakkar. "This culture doesn't get much visibility and we want students to see what the region has to offer. ISSA wants this event to represent major styles and to build awareness among Baylor students about the region."
This year's presentation has focused additional attention on other parts of the region. The event also will feature the involvement of other Baylor student organizations.
"We made a special effort to bring a more balanced representation of different regions and styles. The show also will feature members from different organizations in the fashion show," Thakkar said.
Tickets cost $5 and are available at the door. For more information, contact Pearl Beverly at 710-2243.
