More than 110 teams from throughout the southwest will compete in the American Collegiate Intramural Championships (ACIC) Flag Football Regional Championships Nov. 21-24, hosted for the third consecutive year by Baylor University's campus recreation department.
During the four-day event, teams in three divisions - men's, women's and co-rec - will vie for a chance to play in the National Flag Football Championships, which will be held Dec. 27-31 in New Orleans.
Sign-in and registration will take place Thursday at the McLane Student Life Center at Baylor. First and second round games will be played from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Waco's Heart of Texas Soccer Complex. Semi-final games will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at Baylor's Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field on University Parks Drive. The Sunday championship matches also will be held at the Baylor soccer field, with the co-rec game beginning at 1:30 p.m., the women's championship at 3 p.m., and the men's final at 4:30 p.m.
More than 3,000 fans will be in attendance to cheer their teams. In addition, staff members from various schools will assist Baylor's campus recreation staff with officiating and other administrative duties.
"This regional tournament allows us to meet and interact with some of the nation's top teams, staff and officials, and also be part of a tournament that showcases Baylor's mission and character," said Caitlin McDaniel, a Baylor graduate assistant in intramurals.
