Baylor University's Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity will host its third annual "Miss Phi I A" Pageant from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center.
The scholarship pageant, which is free and open to the public, is designed to recognize and reward Baylor women for their talent and contribution to the university and Waco communities.
The 10 contestants will compete in four categories. Scheduled interviews will begin on Thursday, Oct. 31, with closed preliminary judging. Prior to the pageant, the contestants completed a fundraising competition, which will be calculated into the score.
The contestants will have a formal introduction, a talent show performance, evening gown competition and a question-and-answer session during Friday's competition. A total of $3,500 in gifts and scholarships will be awarded to the contestants.
Phi Iota Alpha will host its national convention from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Barfield Drawing Room. Tickets for the convention may be purchased in advance at the Student Union Building.
