Jimmy Dorrell, executive director of Mission Waco, pastor and author, will address Baylor University students at 10 and 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, in Waco Hall.

Dorrell pastors Waco's Church Under the Bridge and is co-founder and executive director of Mission Waco, a Christian-based, non-profit organization that ministers to the poor. According to Dorrell's website, "His passion for the poor and mobilizing the middle-class to become involved in the lives of the poor became the strategy for Mission Waco that continues today."

A 1972 Baylor alumnus, he teaches a course in urban ministry at George W. Truett Theological Seminary and civic and community education classes at Baylor that involve students in local hands-on volunteer projects.

Dorrell's upcoming book, "Trolls and Truth: 14 Realities About the Church We Don't Want to See" will be published Sept. 1. The book is based on 14 experiences that touched Dorrell's life while pastoring Church Under the Bridge.

Chapel can be viewed live on the University Ministries website.
