Baylor University's admission services and several student organizations will host hundreds of prospective students and their parents for Spring Premiere, Friday and Saturday, April 21-22.

The premiere gives a glimpse of college life by offering informational sessions, campus tours and meetings with Baylor faculty, staff and students. Student organizations participating in Spring Premiere include Student Foundation, Student Telecounseling Admissions Representatives, Kappa Omega Tau and Campus Visit representatives.

The weekend will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday with the Brothers Under Christ Island Party, a Christian concert festival held in the heart of the Baylor campus at Fountain Mall. The concert features various Christian recording artists, including nationally-acclaimed musician Bebo Norman, and Baylor-based Friend of Nick. Island Party also will feature local college pastor Kyle Dunn from Highland Baptist Church as the evening's speaker. The event is free and open to all Spring Premiere participants.

On Saturday, registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. at the Ferrell Center, where participants can pick up their Premiere packets and enjoy a light breakfast. The "Welcome to Baylor" opening session will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. and feature the Baylor Spirit Squads and Dr. Dub Oliver, interim vice president for student life.

The remainder of the day will include "Pick and Choose Time," which will allow participants to explore the Baylor campus. Two academic sessions, scheduled for 2 and 3 p.m., will introduce students to fields of study and allow them to attend presentations given by Baylor professors.

The Premiere will wrap up with a program in Waco Hall from 4 to 4:30 p.m. with performances by current Baylor students, including the Guerrilla Comedy Troupe and musician Taylor Howard. Members of the Baylor Chamber of Commerce also will bring one of the university's beloved mascots on stage for a special appearance.

Premiere dates for next fall and spring semesters are Sept. 16, Jan. 27, 2007, and April 20-21, 2007. For more information about Spring Premiere or other admissions events, contact the office of admission services at 710-3435.
