Baylor To Host Community Forum on Public School Finance

March 31, 2006

As state lawmakers prepare for a special legislative session on public school finance, Baylor University will host a community forum on various reform proposals from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, in the Kronzer Courtroom (room 127) of Baylor Law School.
The forum will feature Sen. Kip Averitt (R-McGregor), Rep. Jim Dunnam (D-Waco) and Rep. Charles "Doc" Anderson (R-Waco).
"Public school finance is one of the most pressing issues facing state policymakers," said Jordan Pleitz, president of the Baylor Ambassadors, the student organization co-hosting the event. "This forum will give Waco and other Central Texas communities the opportunity to dialog directly with their elected officials prior to the special legislative session."
The Baylor Ambassadors is comprised of a select group of students who help represent Baylor in the governmental arena. Ambassadors discuss higher education policy with state and federal elected officials, host political dignitaries when they visit Baylor and participate in various projects within the Waco community.
