Steppin' Out, Baylor University's bi-annual day of community service, will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 23. A celebration of service will conclude the event at 4 p.m. in Fountain Mall.
Steppin' Out steering committee member Emily Moore said that organizers expect 3,000 students to participate. Students will work at various sites around the Waco community including houses, churches and nursing homes.
"This is the 14th year that Baylor has done Steppin' Out, so a lot of people in the Waco community know about the program," Moore said. "Some people come to us, but we also go out into the community and find people to serve."
The celebration of service is open to all who participated in Steppin' Out. Local restaurants will donate food and a band will play to provide entertainment. Moore said that it is a time for participants to "gather together, relax and feel satisfied with the day of service that they have completed."
