Guest Artist Surveys Russian Saxophone History At Baylor

Saxophonist Stacy Maugans, instructor of music at Valparaiso University in Indiana, will present a guest lecture/recital on "The History of the Saxophone in Russia and the Former Soviet Union" at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 14, in Meadows Recital Hall on the Baylor University campus. She will be assisted by pianist Shirley Bolen.
The recital portion of the program will include music by four Russian composers. Maugans will perform "Aphrodite" from Hillar Kareva's Seduction of Paris (1987), Tiriel (1983) by Dmitri Smirnov, Suite of Moods (1988) by Yuri Chugunov and Mikhail Gotlib's Saxophone Concerto (1976).
