English Pianist Martin Jones Performs For The Lyceum Series

Martin Jones will perform a Lyceum Series recital at 8 p.m. Monday, March 18, in Roxy Grove Hall on the Baylor University campus. He also will present a piano master class from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, in Roxy Grove Hall. Both events are free and open to the public.
The recital will open with Franz Liszt's Variations on a Theme of Bach. Jones will perform two 20th-century works, Samuel Barber's Nocturne and Erich Wolfgang Korngold's Sonata No. 2. Following intermission, Jones will present Sergei Rachmaninov's Variations on a Theme of Corelli, Op. 42. The program will conclude with Earl Wild's arrangement of themes from George Gershwin's only opera--the Porgy and Bess Fantasy.
Jones is a recording artist on the Nimbus Records label. The soundtrack of the film 'Howards End' features him performing Grainger's Bridal Lullaby and Mock Morris. Jones has performed as concerto soloist with many of the leading British orchestras, as well as in the US, Canada and Russia.
