Member of Turkish Parliament to Lecture, Available for Media Interviews

Dr. Mehmet Tomanbay, a member of the Parliament for the Republic of Turkey, will deliver a lecture on the Baylor University campus at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 23, in room 116 in the Draper Academic Building. He will speak on "Geopolitical Perspectives from the Republic of Turkey" as part of the Global Issues Lecture Series.
Tomanbay also will be available for interviews with the media at 3 p.m. at the Center for International Education in Poage Library. Tomanbay can comment on such topics as Iraq, the Middle East, terrorism, peace and the European Union.
Tomanbay received his doctorate from Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey, and served as professor of economics there from 1997-2002, when he was elected to Parliament. Additionally, he has been a visiting scholar at the University of Michigan, where he worked on a Fulbright grant at the Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies.
