The Baylor/Waco piano competition will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, on the Baylor University campus.
Now in its 23rd year, the Baylor/Waco piano competition, sponsored by the Baylor School of Music, provides an annual opportunity for talented young pianists in the five-state area to gain valuable experience and recognition. Cash prizes are awarded to the top two winners in each of the five divisions.
This year's event will feature a total of 63 contestants, grades seven through 12, who will represent the independent piano studios of 39 teachers from across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
The competition is comprised of two main categories: the piano solo competition and the piano concerto competition, and each of those categories consists of various divisions, depending upon the age of the contestant.
An awards presentation ceremony will be held at 1:45 p.m. in Meadows Recital Hall.
All Baylor/Waco piano competition activities are free and open to the public. For more information, call the keyboard division of the Baylor School of Music at 710-1417.
