Baylor Theatre To Present 'The Fantasticks' Nov. 1-11

Baylor Theatre will present "The Fantasticks," the longest-running musical in history, at the Jones Theater in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center on the Baylor University campus. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1-3 and Nov. 8-10 with matinee performances scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Nov. 4 and 11.
"The Fantasticks," by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, opened off-Broadway on May 3, 1960, and more than 40 years later continues to play to audiences at the Sullivan Street Playhouse in New York's Greenwich Village. The tale of young romance and mature love, the musical features such memorable songs as "Try to Remember" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain."
Cast members include Rhett Henckel as El Gallo, Whitney Cone or Megan Conner as Luisa, Jonathan Collins as Matt, Richard Buerkle as Hucklebee, Steven Walters as Bellomy and Justin Martindale as Henry. Also in the cast are Jason Hindelang as Mortimer, Justin Evans as Mute and Jessica Kitchens and Ashley Taylor as Handymen. Kate Borneman, Tara Hurley, Susannah Morriss and Becky Waldrop are members of the chorus. The Baylor production is directed by Bill Cook, professor of theater arts, with musical direction by Leta Horan, associate professor of music.
