Mayborn Museum Complex Offers Sensational Saturdays

September 29, 2005

Visit the Mayborn Museum Complex from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 8 for "A Day in the Village." Guests can enjoy some old-fashioned fun in the Gov. Bill & Vara Daniel Historic Village.

See a blacksmith make farm tools, feed the chickens and guineas, wash clothes without running water or electricity, plant a seed, go on a scavenger hunt in the general store, make candles and cornhusk dolls, pump water and play games in the schoolhouse.

Younger visitors can dress up in the Pioneer Room in the Jeanes Discovery Center. Visit the Texas Lifeways to learn more about 19th-century life in Central Texas.

The activities are included in the price of admission. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 for children ages 18 months to 12 years. Members are free. For more information, call (254) 710-1110. The museum is located at 1300 S. University Parks Dr.
