The 2000-2001 academic year at Baylor University was one of great achievement across the entire university - from outstanding academics to first-class facilities, distinguished faculty to championship athletics.
Among the highlights of the year included notable rankings in national publications, prestigious national honors for Baylor students, distinguished guest speakers such as The McLaughlin Group, Harvard scientist Stephen Jay Gould, Yale law professor Stephen Carter, authors Sister Helen Prejean and Anne Lamott and Pulitzer Prize-winning poet W.S. Merwin, construction progress on several new facilities and national tournament appearances for several Baylor athletic teams.
Baylor's vision is to become a top tier university, with a distinctively Christian influence that extends worldwide. By aspiring to these great heights, Baylor will prepare students to enter the world with the strongest voice, the furthest reach and the greatest impact possible.
