Baylor University's Air Force ROTC Detachment 810 will honor American military personnel who were held as prisoners of war and those still listed as missing in action with a flag vigil from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27.
The vigil will be held on Fountain Mall on Fifth Street across from the Bill Daniel Student Center on the Baylor campus.
Uniformed cadets, rotating in half hour shifts, will stand at attention before the American flag. They also will surround a table holding the dress caps and other symbols representing the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps. "The Star Spangled Banner" will be played at the top of each hour. The half hour will be marked by the playing of "God Bless the U.S.A."
Cadets also will staff tables providing a way for Baylor students and others to write letters to families and rescue workers in New York City. The letters will be sent to the Firefighter and Police Widows and Children's Fund.
