Organist To Accompany Screening Of Silent 'Phantom of the Opera'

June 22, 2005

Silent movies were never really silent -- a theater musician would improvise a musical score to accompany the action on screen.
That is what organist Stephen Morris will do for his audience on Tuesday, June 28, during a presentation of the classic 1925 film by Universal Pictures, "Phantom of the Opera." The special screening will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Roxy Grove Hall.
The famous silent version of "Phantom of the Opera" stars Lon Chaney as a vengeful composer who lives in the catacombs of the Paris Opéra, kidnapping the young Christine Daae (played by Mary Philbin) as his new protégée.
The screening of "Phantom of the Opera" is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Baylor University School of Music at 254-710-3991.
