Baylor Habitat Project -- Week 4 Update

April 17, 2001

by LoAna Lopez

Easter weekend brought a time of rest for volunteers working to complete the Baylor Habitat for Humanity house on 1008 Church Ave., soon to be Waco's 61st Habitat house.
With just two Saturdays left this month, organizers still are planning for a completion date of April 28 and dedication at 2 p.m. On that day, Eddie and Anja Gayle, along with their 2-year-old daughter, Seraphina, will become first-time homeowners.
The $32,000 project of Baylor's Habitat for Humanity chapter - a student organization - is being funded by contributions from students, faculty and staff. Faculty and staff have contributed just over half of their $16,000 pledge toward the effort and are encouraged to continue making contributions. Students have donated their share.
To contribute financially to the project, contact Barbara Wolff, director of payroll, at 710-8564. To sign up for one of the remaining workdays, contact Rona Stefka, chair of the special projects committee for staff council, at 710-4881.
