by Richard Veit

The Baylor University School of Music will present the 17th annual President's Concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 21, in Jones Concert Hall. The program will consist of two major works for chorus and orchestra by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Requiem and Ave verum corpus.
The concert will be dedicated to the memory of Daniel Sternberg, former dean of the School of Music, who died in Aug. 26, 2000, in Waco.
The Baylor A Cappella Choir, the Baylor Concert Choir and the Baylor Chamber Orchestra, all under the direction of Donald Bailey, The Mary Gibbs Jones Professor of Music and director of choral activities, will perform.
Mozart's Requiem, K. 626, was written in Vienna late in 1791, but was left unfinished when Mozart died. The edition that is now played was completed by Mozart's pupil, Franz Xaver Snssmayr. The funeral motet, Ave verum corpus, K. 618, also dates from 1791.
General admission tickets are priced at $5. Send a check, payable to Baylor University with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to President's Concert Tickets, P.O. Box 97408, Waco, TX, 76798-7408. Tickets also may be purchased in room 200 of Roxy Grove Hall during regular business hours.
