Katriona Munthe-Lindgren To Present Classics Lecture April 3

The classics department of Baylor University will sponsor a lecture at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in the Armstrong Browning Treasure Room, featuring Dr. Katriona Munthe-Lindgren.
Her lecture, "Reflection on Axel Munthe," is based on the life of her grandfather who was a physician, psychiatrist and writer who was born in Sweden. Axel Munthe was educated at the University of Uppsala and received his medical degree from Montpelier in Paris, where he was the youngest to receive an MD. He later became physician to the Swedish Royal family and served as the personal physician for Swedish Queen Victoria. He became known as "the modern St. Francis of Assisi" because he financed sanctuaries for birds.
Lindgren, an accomplished Jungian psychotherapist, redirected her efforts toward the arts and began extensive research on symbols and contributed, with the first Italian group of mimes, to make biodrama a reality in Europe. She is presently based in London where she is serves as executive director of the Munthe Family Foundation, a concern in art history and conservation.
Educated in England, France and Italy, Lindgren received her doctorate in clinical psychology, magna cum laude, at the Universita' degli studi di Roma. She is specialized in psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy.
