Summer Theater Season Opens With Marathon June 8

June 6, 2000

Baylor University's department of theater arts will present Marathon, its first production of the 2000 summer season, June 8-10. The British play, written by Tony Dunham and Rob Sian, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Theater 11 at the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center on campus.
Directed by Baylor graduate student Michael Nangle, Marathon focuses on two friends, Bob and Fred, who are training for the London Marathon, and the struggles they encounter.
"The play deals with heroes or the lack of heroes in society," Nangle said. "Because I am a distance runner, I can really appreciate that aspect of the story, but you don't have to be a runner to enjoy the show."
Marathon stars Sam Henderson as Fred and Nick Orand as Bob.
Tickets for Marathon are $6 and can be purchased from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Baylor Theater box office or by calling 710-1865.
