Baylor Summer Organ Institute To Feature Three Recitals

The Baylor University School of Music will host its annual summer organ institute June 18-24. It is designed to teach organ to young musicians ages 12-18. Dr. Joyce Jones, The Joyce Oliver Bowden Professor of Music and Organist in Residence, will direct the institute. This year, for the first time, all the students are from Texas. The institute will feature three recitals open to the public.
Joel Bacon, a frequent performer in Vienna, will play in Jones Concert Hall at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Bacon, who holds bachelor and master's degrees from Baylor will also teach at the institute.
Jones will play works by Bach, Liszt and the popular "Variations on America" by Charles Ives at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in Jones Concert Hall. This will be the only Waco recital this summer for Jones.
The week concludes in Jones Concert Hall at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with the final recital by the institute students.
