Garland Elected National Association Of Social Workers Delegate

August 21, 2000

Dr. Diana Garland, professor of social work and director of the social work graduate program and the Center for Community and Family Ministries at Baylor University, has been elected to serve as Texas' Region 9 representative to the National Association of Social Workers Delegate Assembly (NASW).
At the completion of her three-year term in 2003, Garland will represent Region 9 at the National Delegate Assembly held in Washington, D.C. Through the Delegate Assembly, members of NASW adopt broad professional and social policies and establish program priorities for NASW.
NASW has approximately 155,000 members in 55 chapters. Delegates use the first two years of their elected term to gather information and concerns from membership and to study issues that require attention by the body. Regional Coalitions meet prior to the national assembly to share information and develop proposals for policy changes.
