The Baylor Chamber of Commerce will hold a pep rally for the Baylor football, volleyball and soccer teams at 6:30 p.m. on Fifth Street between Penland and Martin Halls.
Baylor head football coach Kevin Steele, volleyball coach Brian Hosfeld and soccer coach Nick Cowell are scheduled to speak at the rally. Team members, cheerleaders, the Baylor University Golden Wave Marching Band and "Chance," Baylor's bear mascot, also will take part in the festivities.
"The chamber is here to promote Baylor athletics and we wanted an event that would get the student body behind the teams," said Ben Simpson, a Tyler junior and member of the Freshman Line committee.
The Baylor football team takes on the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers during the Bears' home opener at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Floyd Casey Stadium. Baylor's 24th ranked volleyball team continues Big 12 play Saturday against Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., and at
7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, against the University of Texas in the Ferrell Center. The soccer team plays Colorado College at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Baylor soccer complex and opens the Big 12 portion of its schedule at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, against Nebraska.
