AIDS Victim To Share Her Story In Chapel Nov. 6

November 2, 2000

LaGena Greene, infected with the HIV virus by her boyfriend, a well-known race car driver, will speak at 10 and 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, during Baylor University's Chapel inWaco Hall on campus.
A former "Miss Hawaiian Tropic" and cum laude graduate of the University of North Carolina, Greene speaks about AIDS awareness in churches and colleges, warning that anyone can be infected with the AIDS virus.
Greene said she was infected by her boyfriend on Sept. 10, 1986, the night he proposed to her in a New York City hotel room. She learned that she was HIV positive in 1987.
She has survived 10 occasions where she nearly died from various AIDS-related diseases. Instead of giving up on life, she celebrates the time she has left and uses her illness to share her story with others.
Her focus during Monday's appearance will be on the importance of abstinence and how one night can change your life.
