ROTC To Sponsor POW/MIA Flag Vigil Nov. 10

November 8, 2000

Baylor University's ROTC Corps of Cadets will sponsor a 24-hour flag vigil in honor of military prisoners of war (POWs) and those missing in action (MIA) beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at the Baylor flag pole in front of Pat Neff Hall. The flag vigil is held annually in conjunction with Veterans Day.
During the flag vigil, teams of three cadets will guard the flag during hour-long shifts. The vigil will end at 8 a.m. Saturday.
"This is a way for our students to honor veterans who served in different military actions," said Capt. Edwin Rutter, assistant professor of aerospace studies.
Baylor's Air Force ROTC unit, now in its 52nd year, currently has more than 100 cadets. The department of aerospace studies is under the command of Lt. Col. Franklin Hillson.
