Baylor's Jazz Ensemble To Play On Nov. 16

The Baylor University Jazz Ensemble will present its second concert of the fall semester on Thursday, Nov. 16, beginning at 8:00 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall. Also on the program will be the Baylor Jazz Combo. Supervising the concert will be Baylor's director of jazz studies Steven Roach.
The 23-member Jazz Ensemble will open the performance with Dan Gailey's "Big Al Meets the Barnyard Gals" and Maria Schneider's "Last Season," followed by jazz arrangements by Tom Matta and Bob Brookmeyer, respectively, of two pop standards, Victor Young's "Stella by Starlight" and Hoagy Carmichael's "Skylark."
After a set of pieces by the 6-member Baylor Jazz Combo, the Jazz Ensemble will return to the stage to conclude the program with "I See Voices" by Bret and Melinda Zvacek and "Limehouse Blues" by Furber and Braham.
