The Baylor University School of Music will celebrate the Christmas season with eight events within a span of five days in early December.
Opening the Christmas programs will be the annual Choral Christmas Concerts, which will be presented on Friday, Dec. 1, and on Saturday, Dec. 2. Both performances will begin at 8 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall. Four of Baylor's major choral ensembles -- A Cappella Choir, Concert Choir, Women's Chorus and Men's Glee Club -- will perform during the concerts.
Next in the series of Christmas events will be three concerts by the Chamber Singers. These will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, and at 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, and Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the Armstrong Browning Library's McLean Foyer of Meditation. Tickets for the Choral Christmas concerts and the Chamber Singers concerts are $5 and can be purchased at the Bill Daniel Student Center box office or by calling 710-3210.
Two carillon recitals also will offer Christmas themes. On Monday, Dec. 4, four students of University Carillonneur Herbert Colvin will play a Christmas recital at 5 p.m. on the McLane Carillon in Pat Neff Hall Tower. Then, on Tuesday, Dec. 5, Lynnette Geary will present a Christmas recital beginning at 5 p.m. on the McLane Carillon. Both carillon events are free of charge.
The Baylor Handbell Choir will present a program including Christmas music on Tuesday, Dec.5, beginning at 6 p.m. in Meadows Recital Hall. The handbell concert is free of charge.
