Baylor's Steppin' Out Set For March 24

Steppin' Out, a 15-year Baylor University community service tradition, is scheduled for March 24, with more than 3,000 Baylor students expected to participate.
From 8 a.m. to noon, volunteers will work at approximately 100 job sites in Waco. Service opportunities include nursing home visits, house painting, and yard work and clean-up. Area organizations, churches and members of the community are encouraged to submit job requests until the registration deadline on March 2.
A celebration of service, where volunteers are welcome to eat lunch donated by area vendors, will take place at noon on the first floor of the Bill Daniel Student Center on campus. The service also will include a live band, door prizes and other attractions.
The mission of the Steppin' Out service project is to enhance student involvement in community service and in community awareness, interaction and collaboration between Baylor and the Waco community. Steppin' Out seeks to provide opportunities for experiential learning, civic leadership and social responsibility.
Steppin' Out is one of the larger community service projects on American college campuses today and is frequently used as a foundation for the establishment of community service programs throughout the state and the country.
