Historic Village To Hold Quilting Workshop Feb. 24

Visitors to the Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village, part of Baylor University's Strecker Museum Complex, can learn about quilts and quilting from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24.
A lecture and one-day exhibit of American quilts will run from 10 a.m. until noon at the village. Guests can view rare quilt examples from Strecker Museum's collection and can learn about the development of traditional patterns.
From 12:30 to 4 p.m., visitors can learn to make their own family heirloom during an introductory workshop on the basics of quilting. Instruction will include drafting a pattern, cutting, hand piecing and quilting a throw pillow top or a chicken pin cushion. The class is limited to 15 adults and advanced registration is required.
The Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village is located on the Baylor campus off University Parks Drive behind the Hughes-Dillard Alumni Center. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for senior citizens and $1 for children ages 5 to 15. Baylor faculty, staff and students and children under age 5 are admitted at no charge. The cost of the quilting workshop is $30 and includes all supplies.
