WACO, Texas -- High school students from throughout Texas will come together as Baylor University hosts the Air Force Junior ROTC Leadership Camp June 21-27.
The leadership camp, sponsored by Temple High School, is open to both male and female students ages 14-18. There will be various seminars during the afternoons, which will focus on teaching students to reach deep into their heart to unlock their potential.
There also will be different guests and speakers, including an Air Force recruiter. The camp will be set up much like a boot camp. There will be numerous activities, such as drills, drill competitions, running, marching, softball, volleyball, basketball, flag football and much more. Students will be divided into units which will compete against each other. There also will be a leadership reaction course, similar to an obstacle course, at the end of the week. It will allow students an opportunity to implement leadership and teamwork skills they have acquired during the week.
There also will be several field trips during the week, including an airplane demonstration at Fort Hood. At the end of the week, students will participate in a parade and will receive graduation certificates.
