June 7, 1999

The National Teen-Ager Scholarship Program will award approximately $100,000 in scholarships to females ages 13-19 June 18-20 at Baylor University.
The scholarship program, located in every state in the United States, will bring in admissions counselors from throughout the state to conduct personal interviews with each student. The scholarships are awarded based on grade-point average and test scores, leadership and involvement, communication during the interview and overall appearance. Students may also participate in an essay competition and a talent competition during the weekend.
Cheryl Snow, national director of the program, said approximately 85 students are expected to attend, and at least half of them will receive some type of scholarship. The scholarships available are from many different universities. The top two winners in Texas will travel to Nashville, Tenn., Aug. 1-8 to compete in a national competition.
At the national competition, the senior winner will receive $10,000, and the junior winner will receive $5,000. They will receive national recognition and have the opportunity to travel all over the United States and participate in numerous activities.
