The Baylor University Native American Student Association (NASA) will host its sixth annual scholarship benefit powwow -- "Spirit of the Bear" -- on Saturday, March 27, in the Ferrell Special Events Center.
The festivities will begin with a gourd dance at 5 p.m., followed by the grand entry at
7 p.m. The powwow is free and open to the public.
"Two years ago, we had the largest collegiate powwow in Texas, and we hope to do the same this year," said NASA's Kimberly Musia. "This event raises funds for a scholarship for one Native American student at Baylor each year. It also heightens community awareness of the vitality of native cultures today."
Arts and crafts, jewelry and clothing will also be on display and available for purchase.
