A campus memorial service for Baylor University student Katy Cobb, who died Friday in an automobile accident, will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, in Jones Concert Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building. A junior from Little Rock, Ark., Cobb was on her way to Dallas to catch a plane home when she lost control of her 1996 Chevrolet Blazer on Interstate Highway 35 just south of Italy. She was 20.
Dr. Milton E. Cunningham, university chaplain, said Cobb's death has been a loss for the Baylor family. "It's always a loss when a student's life is taken while they're in school and Katy Cobb was one whose involvement in campus life covered a number of areas. She had many friends and all of them are saddened by her death."
Cobb was an education major and a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She played the harp and was engaged to marry Greg Henry. She is survived by her mother, Kathy Cobb; and sisters, Ruthie and Frances Cobb. The memorial service is scheduled to take place in Jones Concert Hall because that is where Cobb so often played her harp.
