High School Seniors to Visit Baylor Campus on Jan. 30

January 26, 1999

High school seniors and their parents will visit Baylor University on Jan. 30 during the Office of Admission Services and the Baylor Chamber of Commerce's second Winter Premiere.
Aimed at helping high school seniors get acquainted with the Baylor campus, Winter Premiere will begin at 8 a.m. with registration, breakfast and a welcome from Dr. Charles S. Madden, Baylor vice president for university marketing. Other activities include classroom visits with university professors, meetings for parents with financial aid representatives, souvenir shopping and campus tours.
Visitors also may talk about student extracurricular activities with representatives of campus organizations. Premiere will conclude at 4 p.m. with a pep rally. Waco-area students and their families or out-of-town guests arriving Friday evening may join Baylor faculty and students during a coffee and dessert mixer at 8 p.m. on the second floor of the Bill Daniel Student Center.
"Winter Premiere is one of three programs that we do annually," said James Steen, associate director of recruitment. Whether seniors are already in the admissions process or are still trying to make up their mind about Baylor, Saturday is the day for getting their questions answered.
Steen said one of the best things about Winter Premiere is that students will have the opportunity to talk with professors concerning various courses and majors. "We offer two academic sessions," he said. "Forty different departments at Baylor will give presentations on their department. We can send (students) information, but for them to physically come to the campus, it's very effective."
