Dr. Michael A. Hitt of Texas A&M University, one of America's top management experts, will describe the opportunities--and pitfalls--facing the business world in the next millennium during a talk at Baylor University on Friday, Dec. 4.
The program, scheduled for 2 p.m. in Room 303 of the Cashion Academic Building, is free and open to the public.
Hitt will address the topic "Global Business Strategy in the 21st Century" and will draw on his participation in an international business strategy project involving research in many countries, said Dr. R. Duane Ireland, who directs the Entrepreneurship Studies Program at the Hankamer School of Business.
"Business strategy will be a vital factor in the success or failure of many companies in the 21st century," said Ireland, who serves as a professor of management and holds the Curtis Hankamer Chair of Entrepreneurship. Ireland has worked with Hitt in authoring a number of books and articles in the field of management, strategy and glabal market performance.
Hitt has authored more than 85 articles and nearly 20 books in his area of expertise and is in great demand as a speaker at management and business conferences worldwide, said Ireland. Hitt is past president of the Academy of Management, a 10,000-member international organization dedicated to the advancement of management knowledge and practice. He received the award for outstanding academic contributions to competitiveness from the American Society for Competitiveness. He is a Fellow in the Academy of Management and has been selected to receive an honorary doctorate from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Spain, for his contributions to the field.
