Homecoming Worship Service Set for Nov. 8

October 27, 1998

The Baylor University Alumni Association has planned a Homecoming worship service for alumni, students and their families at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at Seventh and James Baptist Church.
Baylor President Robert B. Sloan Jr. will deliver the sermon.
Worship music will be directed by the Rev. Ronald E. Bowles, minister of music and media at First Baptist Church, El Paso. Bowles graduated from Baylor in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in music education. He graduated with a master's degree in communications from Baylor in 1977 and received a master's degree in church music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1981.
In addition to other ministerial positions in music, Bowles was associate minister of music for First Baptist Church in Waco from 1975-81 and music director for the Baptist Student Union at Baylor from 1974-76. He has served as worship leader for the Homecoming "Singspiration" for several years and is an active member of the Baylor Alumni Association.
A piano prelude will be performed by Lydia McCall Bratcher, a piano teacher at Lydia Bratcher Piano Studio in Waco, and organ music will be performed by Dr. Joyce Jones, professor of organ. A Baylor student quartet -- Brandon Smith, Tom Price, Billy McMahon and Mike Green -- also will provide music.
