Brass Faculty in Sunday Recital

Baylor University's School of Music brass faculty trumpeter Barry Hopper and hornist Margaret Robinson will present a recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 20, in Jones Concert Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building. They will be assisted by percussionist Deby Harris, trombonist David Jackson, tuba player Michael Fischer and trumpeter Oscar García-Montoya.
Hopper is associate professor of trumpet and coordinator of brass. A member of the Baylor music faculty since 1983, he holds a bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida and a master's degree from the University of North Texas.
Robinson serves as assistant professor of horn. She earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin, her master's degree at the University of Indiana and her doctorate at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
The recital will consist entirely of 20th-century compositions, opening with an arrangement of the Horn Concerto by Reinhold Glière. It dates from 1952.
Also on the program will be Dragons in the Sky by Mark Schultz, Four Variations on a Theme of Domenico Scarlatti by Marcel Bitsch and Allusions by John Cheetham.
