Baylor University alumni Dr. Byron and Carla Weathersbee, founders of Legacy Family Ministries, will speak to students at the 10 and 11 a.m. Chapel services Wednesday, March 9, in Waco Hall.
"Recreational sex is rampant on college campuses with no real connection being made," Byron Weathersbee said. "We want to address sexual integrity in relationships and encourage students to build strong relationships."
Based in Waco, Legacy Family Ministries is a non-profit organization. Its mission includes encouraging families to focus on God and each other, assisting engaged couples in developing a solid Christian foundation for their marriage and helping students deepen their relationship with God.
"There is a relationship crisis in America," Byron explained. "In our opinion, the college years are one of the most important times for relational development."
The Weathersbees were active in student ministry for 13 years before founding Legacy Family Ministries in 1995. They have served on several church staffs, including Columbus Avenue Baptist Church and University Baptist Church in Waco.
Both graduates of Baylor, Byron also has a doctorate of education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a master's from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Carla has done graduate work at Baylor in exercise physiology.
The couple has three children, Bo, Brittany and Casey.
