Conversational English Workshop to Be Held May 13-14

May 8, 1998

A conversational English workshop will be held May 13-14 at Baylor University to provide certification for individuals interested in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).
The workshop is sponsored by Baylor's Literacy Missions Center and Baptist Student Ministries. On May 13, the workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 14 at the Bobo Baptist Student Center. The workshop costs $25, which includes a literacy manual. ESL certification can be used in literacy programs, churches and on the mission field.
Some of the topics that will be covered include how to organize a conversational English ministry, teaching methods, cross-cultural communications and how to share your faith with internationals.
Maurine Frost, director of the Literacy Missions Center, said that everyone can benefit from participating in the ESL workshop.
"I don't know anyone who has completed the workshop and not had an opportunity to use the training," Frost said.
