Luis Rey to Perform at Waco Hall May 1

April 20, 1998

Luis Rey, a Baylor student, and his band will perform a benefit concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in Waco Hall.
A west Texas native, Rey writes and performs country music. The 23-year old's style ranges from ballads to foot-stompin' music. He has opened for B.J. Thomas, and more recently toured with Paul Overstreet. He has appeared on "Nashville Video Showcase" and plans to pursue a record contract in Nashville after graduation from Baylor in May.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Hunter Wiese Fund. Wiese is a 2-year old who has a childhood form of cancer. His grandmother, Liz Webb, is administrative assistant in the office of student activities at Baylor. Rey met Hunter at a wedding before the child was diagnosed with cancer, and he decided to donate the concert money to help pay for Hunter's treatment.
Tickets are available for $5 in the Bill Daniel Student Center Ticket Office.
