WACO, Texas (Oct. 23, 2020) – On Saturday, Oct. 24, more than 5,000 prospective high school and transfer students will participate in Baylor University's Premiere 2020, a unique COVID-friendly, screen-to-screen way for prospective students to explore all Baylor has to offer, from academic information sessions with faculty and glimpses into student life to practical help with admissions and financial aid and Zoom tours through the University's award-winning campus led by current Baylor students.

“We are excited to host our first-ever Virtual Premiere event. Interest in a Baylor education has never been higher with over 5,000 prospective students registered. If this event were to be held in person, that number would represent over 17,000 total people on our campus," said Ross VanDyke, senior director of Undergraduate Admissions at Baylor. "We will be live streaming over 100 sessions and tours live from Waco, Texas to countries as far away as Abu Dhabi, Brazil and Nigeria.”

The Opening Session, featuring a message from President Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D., begins at 10 a.m. CST, followed by come-and-go sessions that conclude at 3 p.m. CST.

During Premiere, prospective students and their guests will have opportunities to:

  • Learn more about potential majors and areas of study in academic breakout sessions.
  • Hear from world-class faculty members who will show students the best of what Baylor has to offer.
  • Take a live, interactive Zoom tour of Baylor's vibrant campus with a tour guide who’s a current Baylor Bear.
  • Join a session on admissions and financial aid processes (available in English and Spanish) so students are ready to apply. (Esta sesión de admisiones y ayuda financiera de Baylor también se ofrece en español.)
  • Get the latest information from on residence life from Campus Living & Learning, Multicultural Affairs, Student Activities and other areas of Baylor Student Life.
  • Share in some of the Baylor community’s beloved traditions like Dr Pepper Hour, a favorite since 1953.

Parents also can attend a Q&A session just for them, with an all-day chat room for any questions that come up throughout the day.

Strong demand continues among prospective students and their families for a transformational Baylor education and student life experience. Despite the ongoing challenges presented by COVID-19 for universities throughout the country, Baylor University began fall classes on Aug. 24, 2020, and achieved several enrollment milestones, including enrolling the largest freshman class in University history of 3,731 first-year students.

Registration for Premiere 2020 is closed due to maximum capacity for the event. However, session recordings will be available after the event, and prospective students can find other ways to explore all that Baylor has to offer at baylor.edu/waystoconnect.
