Sheri Mooney Award to Be Presented March 16 With Sandifer Concert in Chapel-Forum

March 11, 1998

Christian music artist Michael Sandifer will be the keynote performer at an annual ceremony in which the Sheri Mooney Memorial Award will be presented during Baylor University's Chapel-Forum at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Monday, March 16, in Waco Hall.
Sandifer, a Baylor graduate and former Baylor Bear football player, has sung and played in churches and conferences across Texas. His songs have risen to the top 10 chart of contemporary Christian music.
The Sheri Mooney Memorial Award will be presented to two students who were selected by an award committee for demonstrating a consistent Christian witness among their peers in ways that would be described as "non-repelling" or not "counter-productive." Students were nominated for the award by faculty, administrators and campus organizations. The award is presented at a memorial forum each spring and consists of an educational grant of $700 for each student.
The award, established in 1988, is funded by Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Mooney of Irving and Mrs. Tina Mooney Koemel of Fort Worth in memory of Baylor graduate Sheri Mooney, who was killed in 1986 in an automobile accident shortly after graduation while on a mission to encourage lifestyle evangelism.
